On Wednesday 24 March 2021, the University of Tuscia held a webinar entitled: Open Science. Open access and copyright in the world of research. The programme, available at http://www.unitus.it/it/dipartimento/sistema-bibliotecario-di-ateneo/news11/articolo/scienza-aperta-open-access-e-copyright-nel-mondo-della-ricerca, included a speech by Susanna Mornati, Chief Operating Officer of 4Science, entitled: Open Access in Italy: experiences and limits, why tools are not enough.
After summarizing the history of IRIS installations in Italy and the reasons for their failure in promoting Open Access, the presentation mentions the new trends towards Open Science in European initiatives, indicating DSpace-CRIS and Dataverse as effective tools to achieve their goals.
